STEP 2 – AFSB (AIR FORCE SELECTION BOARD) TESTING

If you have successfully cleared Step 1, you will receive a Call letter to report to any one of the Air Force Selection Boards located at Dehradun, Varanasi, Gandhinagar, and Mysuru. At the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB), you undergo the following tests in order to ascertain your suitability and gauge your potential as an Officer in the Indian Air Force.

1. STAGE I TESTING

  • Officer Intelligence rating Test.
  • Picture perception and Discussion Test.

STAGE-I is a screening test. Those who qualify STAGE-I are eligible to undergo STAGE-II testing. STAGE-I disqualified candidates are routed back after the announcement of results.

2. STAGE II TESTING

All STAGE-I qualified candidates undergo following tests as part of STAGE-II testing during next four to five days. Fifth day is for CPSS testing (Flying branch).

  • Psychological Tests are written tests that are conducted by a Psychologist.
  • Group Tests are interactive indoor and outdoor activities which are a combination of mental and physical work.
  • Interview involves a personal conversation with an Interviewing Officer.
  • Candidates who have applied for flying branch and have been recommended, will also have to undergo Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS) test .

These tests will be explained to you in detail before they are conducted at the Selection Board.

STEP 3 – CONDUCT OF MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS

If you are recommended by the Selection Board, you will be sent for the medical examination either at Air Force Central Medical Establishment (AFCME), New Delhi or Institute of Aviation Medicine, Bengaluru.

STEP 4 – PREPARING ALL INDIA MERIT LIST

An All India Merit List is compiled on the basis of your performance in the written test and AFSB interview, subject to being medically fit. Based on the vacancies available in various branches / sub-branches, joining instructions are issued to join one of the Training establishments.

SCHEME OF EXAMINATION

Scheme of Examination for the post of Assistant is as under :-


Phase I – Preliminary Examination

I. Phase –I is qualifying in nature and marks will not be reckoned for final merit.
II. For each wrong answer, there will be a negative marking of one fourth of the mark assigned to that question.

III. The candidates will be shortlisted for Phase-II in the ratio of 1:10 i.e. about 10 times the number of vacancies in each category on the basis of their performance in Phase I.

IV. If the examination is held in more than one session, the scores across various sessions will be equated following standard practice to adjust for slight differences in difficulty level of different test batteries used across sessions.

Descriptive paper will be completely online, i.e. the questions will be displayed on the screen and the candidates will have to type the answers using keyboard.

Qualifying Marks: – Qualifying Marks in Phase-I (Preliminary Exam.) and Phase – II (MainExam.) will be decided as per discretion of EPFO.

Based on the performance of the candidates in the online test, eligible candidates will be provisionally called for personal interview tentatively in the ratio of 01:05 i.e. 05 eligible candidates for 01 post.

Candidates are required to qualify in the Personal Interview separately with minimum average of 50% marks .

FINAL SELECTION:

Merit list of suitable candidates shall be prepared on the basis of performance in the online test as well as personal interview, with following weightages:

Selection Procedure

सबसे पहले आपको एक रिटेन  WRITTEN एग्जाम देना होगा |

All candidates, whose applications are received by due date, will be called for Indian Navy Entrance Test (INET) to be conducted in Aug 19 at one of the INET centres as per their choice, subject to availability of slots at that centre.

Call up letters cum Admit Card for online examination indicating date, time and place, which is scheduled during Aug 2019 would be required to be downloaded from the official website www.joinindiannavy.gov.in tentatively by second week of Jul

INET Syllabus.

INET exam will be of two hours duration. It will contain 100 Multiple Choice Questions comprising Questions on English, Reasoning & Numerical Ability, General Science, Mathematical Aptitude & General Knowledge. Each section will be of 100 marks with negative marking of one mark for incorrect answer.

Shortlisting for SSB.

shortlist candidates strictly on the basis of INET rank cum preference & choice.

However candidates are required to qualify in all sections of INET Exam to be considered for shortlisting to appear in SSB interview.

SSB interviews for short-listed candidates will be tentatively scheduled from Oct 19 at Bangalore for pilot & observer candidates and at Bangalore/Bhopal/Coimbatore/Visakhapatnam/Kolkata for other branches/ entries. Higher educational qualifications, previous performances, NCC background etc. have no role to play for finalization of Merit List. Joining letters to join pre-commission training at OTA, Gaya will only be issued subject to vacancies and medical fitness.
